Wonderful, wonderful article. First time on your website, tonight. How about this: Ixion, for me at birth, in the 12th house, conjunct my natal Uranus and my Asc. in Scorpio. Now, today, conjunct my natal Neptune in Sag. opposite my natal Jupiter in Gemini.

Yeah, I'm feelin' it! Some of those planets are just so darn big... Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Huh. My chart's not often "exciting," but this really caught my attention. I discovered Ixion today when running up a chart online and did a quick search on it when I saw it was conjunct my Mars-Neptune conjunction (yikes). I see now that it was discovered whilel transiting 5 Sag, which is my Part of Fortune. Hoping it proves to be a fortunate area for work/growth, though I'll admit to feeling a bit overwhelmed by it after reading your article. (I'll admit too, sheepishly, that I've recently been made aware of the depths of bitchiness/cruelty in my own nature, something I don't like being made aware of ... somehow this all seems to gel.)

Hi, All...been away for a few days. Your comments are appreciated. T, I think your use of the word 'detached' is rather apt as the nature of Ixion suggests perspective is required - starting with perspective on Self. I'd take the quintile to Saturn you describe as a partial descriptor for your sense of optimism, though there are like as not a whole lot of other factors involved there. Still, the Saturn/Ixion quintile (given the quintile's ability to bestow a 'sense of usefulness') would seem to be a contribution to 'lifting' you out of what can be a real mire of darker feelings many with Saturn in the first often endure - and yes, live to conquer.

My take on this - and to some of what you've said, Joan, is that the Plutoid objects (Ixion, Orcus, Pluto) function at least partially as modifiers/qualifiers/descriptors with regards to the ego-denial we so associate with Neptune. That Neptune's magnetic resonance is powerful enough to control objects the myths of which all touch on how we deal with what can be called the 'darker' side of human nature would seem to be a worthy comment (and maybe a warning !) on the importance of maintaining a healthy balance on ego/altruism. Ultimately this story is probably all in how we combine the energies - we are not, after all, just one part of our character, but a synthesis of our personal totality.

And THAT says that the Ixion or Neptune or Orcus of it all in our natal chart - while important (no question!) is also modified by (and a modifier of) other factors such as the good or difficulty of ALL things in a given house being described by the nature/state of the planet(s) ruling the sign on the cusp of that house...and other things.

But still...having an understanding of Ixion as a 'self test' of our perspective...even without anything else seems a really wonderful thing. I'm glad you both enjoyed the article and found it enlightening.

Like you said, Joan...and so the saga continues!

Best,
Boots

Thanks Boots, this explain a lot. I have Ixion in my 3rd house conjunct (2 degrees) Uranus - both in Scorpio. Both oppose my MC in Taurus and both square my mars in leo in the 12th house. Ixion quintiles my saturn in virgo in the 1st house. I've always had this - what if you were in their shoes - thing going on, for good or bad. In a way, I expected others to think of me the same. With this placement - I seem a a bit detached, strange and a bit old fashioned although I do feel deeply, I like to help others when I can as unorthodox as my help can get, I always feel there is more than meets the eye and always think there is more to us all than we can imagine. In a way, this placement keeps a part of me optimistic/hopeful and believing in a higher power that knows all and we will all be ok, at the end of the day.
