February Full Moon Window

Judging from Maya’s predictions for February (General Influences and New Moon), a new level of the Age of Aquarius is being unveiled during this lunar cycle. But the Age of Aquarius is not something that just happens to us. To what degree we are participating in a new cycle of awareness for Planet Earth depends on how we are developing our Aquarian values and tendencies.

This participation certainly means different things for different people. The hallmark of Aquarius and its ruler Uranus (both emphasized at this time) is its relation to what makes each of us original. And yet there are universal traits within the personal, Aquarian individuality that each of us expresses.

Some of them are reflected in the highest ideals of the Age we are predicted to be entering. Freedom characterizes that part of ourselves which is Aquarian, both ideological freedom from judgmentalism, doctrine, social pressures and prejudice, as well as a sense of freedom, of access to the limitless beyond, when we discover and develop those parts of ourselves that express our own true individuality. Other universal conditions of each person’s Uranus and Aquarius energy is that they do relate to our highest ideals, as well as our personal genius.

Just as these influences fall in different areas of our birth charts, so does how we each bring forth our own freedom, ideals, and brilliance vary greatly. But there are few who would not consider the prospect of developing these tendencies exciting, because all of them somehow represent a doorway to personal and collective bliss. Maya has emphasized some of the shadow side of Aquarius energy, and it’s good to be able to discern and not pretend like we’re just going to sit watching TV and be passively transported into the wonderful, joyous, Age of Aquarius.

Much of the new era’s lower octave phenomena—genetic engineering, military technology, materialistic futurism—seems beyond our personal scope of influence to improve. On the other hand, the growing understanding of Aquarian ideals and the blissful promise of their ever-increasing prevalence rightly motivate an anticipation of a better, more beautiful era ahead.

This freedom sign releases the strong will of its opposite, Leo, to a place beyond ego constraints. A keener understanding of free will, then, holds the key to the apparent contradiction between what may be happening in world affairs, and how each of us can still freely choose to raise our omnipotent consciousness at this time, thus contributing to the definition of what the Age of Aquarius means to us collectively. The awareness of how our individual choices affect the larger scheme of things is another Aquarian paradigm which can no longer be ignored.

This month’s New Moon meditation and prayers make the most of the Aquarius portal they hail, by helping free us to follow our bliss.

PART I: SYMBOLS OF THE ELEMENTS FOR THE FEBRUARY NEW MOON CYCLE

  • The earth element can be present as a coin or coins in honor of the Goddess Juno, lapiz lazuli, aquamarine or amethyst stones, or any object that evokes the extraterrestrial.

  • You can use melted snow, rain or spring water in an attractive vessel, especially a turquoise colored pitcher or jar.

  • Timely symbols of fire could still be lit in your hearth, and bright yellow, and/or white or turquoise candles.

  • For the air element, you could ring wind chimes, or play New Age, celestial or extraterrestrial music.

PART II: GUIDES AND HEALERS

Those who wish to call on guides and angels at this time to assist in prayer focusing, may choose to include any of the following:

Archangels Michael and Faith (guardians of freedom)
The Angel of Freedom
Juno
(Chief goddess of the Roman pantheon, derived from the Greek Hera)
Juno Luna (to invoke her for lunar magic)
Juno Lupa (especially for Valentine’s Day and love magic)
Juno Interduca (especially for weddings)
Archangel Zadquiel and Amethyst (guardians of prayers, and of Atlantis, submerged area still in need of planetary healing that include the seas around New York and Florida)
The Divine Mother
Guadalupe
(Originally Tonantzin—Mother of the Gods and Goddesses in Mesoamerica, Divine Mother of the Americas— expression of the Divine Love Principal which is currently working to harmonize the mental vibration of the US.)
The Angel of Planetary Healing
Gaia
The Angel of Planet Earth
The Christ Mind
Jesus Christ
The Buddha

If you wish to summon such helpers before beginning your own prayers and meditations, and/or your own angel(s) or guides, and any other beings "of the high white light alone" (a good phrase for protection when summoning spirits or guides, especially during this season), you may call on them out loud o0r in writing. You might say or write something like, "I greet you and bless you for your work of divine service and guidance, and request your assistance in freeing myself to express my divine gifts and brilliance, and following my bliss."

PART III: MEDITATIVE EXERCISES AND DECREES WHICH FREE YOU TO FOLLOW YOUR BLISS

A. Write a list of those situations, activities, and states of mind which express the freedom and bliss that you identify as part of your uniqueness or essence.

Examples extracted from our prayer group’s lists ranged from the mundane to the divine, such as:

"I see myself free of the illusion of condemnation towards myself and others, perceiving all through the eyes of love."

"To live opulently in the country, near the mountains, with my partner and children, farming our own produce and helping others spiritually."

"I see myself living in a new house, with a new van, my kids always healthy and studious. I have released all resentment and negative feelings from my mind and heart, I’m happy with my inner freedom. My husband and I are very much in love at peace with God."

"I see myself praying constantly and effectively, applying all my energies to promote true world peace, being healthy, beautiful, elegant and beloved of myself, my partner and my children."

"I love sales and starting and directing my own enterprises."

B. List your social roles, such as:

Daughter
Son
Boss
Sibling
Sibling-in-law
Son-in-law
Daughter-in-law
Partner
Wife
Husband
Father
Mother
Student
Employee
Professional (web site designer, teacher, baker, lawyer, accountant, business owner, nurse, manager, waitress, etc.)
Friend
Club or group member
Etc.

C. Next to each social role, write what influence you feel from it in relation to your blissful aspirations. It is interesting and freeing to see how our various social circumstances, memories and activities support our unfolding our bliss. Write the first thing that comes into your imagination, bearing in mind one very important condition. This exercise is not designed to create a blaming attitude towards others, to project on them our own, self-imposed limitations, or to dump our responsibilities. Rather, it is designed to raise our awareness of how the roles we have voluntarily, though often unconsciously, adopted tend to discourage, or sometimes encourage, the development of our most blissful ideals.

When my group did this exercise, a person that wanted to move to the country and devote herself to spiritual teaching found most of her social roles compatible, except for her profession, which is accountant. Another wanted harmony in her family, but when she wrote "sister," she realized her own attitude as a sibling was not contributing to her ideal of familial unity.

Some other examples included:

In my role as wife: I tend to put the brakes on my directive and assertive tendencies in my work because I want to be feminine for my husband.

In my role as daughter: I’m afraid of being more assertive about my success than my mother, I’m used to deferring to her as the leader and pioneer in the family.

In my role as writer: I need to write much more, and study to develop this skill to consolidate my blissful projects.

In my role as sister-in-law: My sisters-in-law may not like to see me more audacious than my husband.

My role as teacher: is compatible with my bliss, because I’m teaching those things that make me blissful, and because I love to teach.

In my role as mother: I’m concerned that my projects would take too much time to be a good, attentive mother.

In my role as boss: I sometimes keep my talent to myself because I feel that being assertive bothers my male employees, they feel competitive and I defer so as not to compete, and to avoid tension and conflict.

D. Read over your list. If done with a group, you may take turns sharing.

E. For at least 7 minutes, repeat the following decree:

The Omnipotent Power of Spirit is now at work in me and in my life, guiding me to the perfect opportunities to express my unique talents and capabilities, and freeing me from any habit, situation or attachment that would limit the complete expression of the divine purpose to which I have been called.

I deserve and receive the independence, freedom and joyful success that are mine by divine right now.

F. Continue to look over and modify your lists, as well as using your decree for 7 minutes, daily throughout this New Moon Cycle (approximately 28 days).

G. Take a few moments to consider how those you are close to may also make adaptations to their roles in relation to you. What we give comes back to us, and now is a good time to develop sensitivity to the freedom others may need for their own uniqueness, too. It will also help you remain fair, kind and compassionate in your application of your discoveries to bear in mind that others have a similar set of self-imposed constraints.

H. Come back for more powerful prayers and practical tools to ground your bliss by filling out this Moon Cycle’s preparation for the Age of Aquarius in our February Full Moon Meditation.

Further suggested reading (or re-reading) at this time:

The Cinderella Complex: Women's Hidden Fear of Independence by Colette Dowling (out of print; available used from Amazon)

The Peter Pan Complex

Astrology for Yourself, by Douglas Bloch and Demetra George. (This novel book is fascinating to use in a group or privately at any time. The exercise to develop your awareness of how you use and can use the Uranus influences you were born with is particularly timely.)

And—any book which helps you understand the contrast between your natal impulses and your social adaptations.

Special thanks to the wonderful members of my Effective Prayer Ministry, for sharing their exercises for all to see, and to Eileen Holland’s interesting website, www.opensesame.com, for more particulars on Juno.
