Prayer for the Planet

The first of the nine insights in The Celestine Prophesy says that we live in a deeply mysterious world, full of sudden coincidences and synchronistic encounters that seem destined. It was through one of these coincidences that I came to know Maya. She wrote an astrological forecast in James Redfield’s newsletter and I wrote to her from my little home at Hellnar in Iceland.

Maya and Gudrun
in Iceland

Our communication resulted in two trips to Iceland organized in part by Maya through Harmony Tours. When I first met Maya, it was evident that we had a long record of past life experiences which we both felt in the deep soul connection between us.

Maya amazed the staff at Hotel Hellnar (my hotel) while staying there, because she would stay up late, have her glass of wine, and still be the first one up, doing sun salutations on our deck overlooking the ocean with orca whales jumping. Her laughter was also contagious and once she started laughing everyone joined in, whether we knew what she was laughing about or not.

When my husband passed away in December of 2004 I needed some time away from home and came to the States in February of 2005. It was my great fortune to be able to visit Maya then and spend some of the quality time we always had together.

Through the years we communicated through e-mail or called each other every now and then. Sometimes when Maya was busy it took some time to get responses to my e-mails. Not so when I contacted her in the week before she died. She responded immediately and shared her insights, which as always shed light on my path and helped me in my transformation. When I called her on the phone a few days later she had apparently passed away. Susan was kind enough to notify me by phone of her mother’s passing, for which I am forever grateful.

I always said to Maya that she was a great example to us younger women. She lived her life to the fullest, active and involved till the very end—showing us how we who follow in her path can age with grace and diginity and contribute to our world till the very end. I feel so blessed that Maya was part of my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
