Daykeeper Journal Online: A Journal of Astrology, Consciousness and Transformation

General Influences, March 2002

Like February, March is another action-power-realignment month. The many parallel declinations which show this extra push extend through April. In May we finish the nine-month core of our great Pluto-Saturn opposition, and we finish with a flourish, for May and June bring us three eclipses. (The Pluto-Saturn opposition is discussed in several past issues of Daykeeper, which you can find in the archives, and will be featured again in May.)

Basically, then, through the winter and spring we are all inexorably and deeply readjusting our lives, at inner and outer levels, as we ready ourselves for the final big thrust in May, followed by the summer (winter in the southern hemisphere) eclipses, which set our changes in place.

March is the month for envisioning. How do you want to be? How do you want your life to be? How do you want to be in your family, community, country, and world? What kind of society do you want to live in? Make pictures of those dreams and desires.

March is an exceedingly creative month, for our imagination is more open then than at any other time of year. The most important thing to attend to during March is the IMAGES which we allow to impinge on us and which we encourage in our perceptions.

The dream precedes the manifestation, and it is these March images which will fuel the hopes and dreams which we manifest as the year moves ahead.

That manifestation begins now, in March. Earthy Saturn trines inspirational Neptune to give us a perfect channel for grounding our dreams. This creative trine continues through April.

Pluto and Saturn are very much of the real, tangible world, and their harnessing during 2001-2002 gives us the opportunity to transform that world. We will create those transformations in accordance with our visions. March is vision month, when we architect the future.

It is easy to let strong, compelling state propaganda give us those visions, as many of the Germans did with Hitler—especially in a nation so isolated from the rest of the world’s peoples, cultures, and history as is the U.S.

But on the other hand, we can instead choose our sources for our inner pictures. We can be discriminating in every choice we make, and attend to those people, writings, media, videos, arts, music, and ideas which feed our soul and help us connect with the wisdom of our higher selves. We can spend time alone, which is necessary to connect with that higher self. We can ask for spiritual guidance. We can support our intuition. And we can be with Nature, that awesome manifestation of the great spirit.

March is Pisces’ month, and it gives us the opportunity to merge with the great flow of spirit.

March 1 sets the tone for the remainder of the month. It’s a Jupiterian, or expansive, month. Jupiter turns direct, giving us the green light for go. The great gambler is set free to try his luck for the next eight months. And Jupiter is luck. All kinds of endeavors can now move ahead, and grow, and spread.

Those endeavors will be unusual, for Jupiter opposes Chiron, the Maverick. This opposition builds all during March, and has a smashing crescendo at Full Moon on March 28.

This is a 12-year Jupiter return for the U.S., especially important because Jupiter rules the U.S. Sagittarius-rising chart. Jupiter is thus boss of the U.S., and this is a Jupiter birthday. Jupiter is King of the Gods, with a great sense of entitlement. In Cancer, as he is now (and always in the U.S. chart), he expands defense and all security measures, and spreads them around the globe. Now is the start of a new 12-year cycle in his work.

At the last U.S. Jupiter return, in the spring of 1990, GW’s father made trade agreements with Russia and Japan, and agreements to cut arms—conventional and nuclear—with Russia and Europe. He also stopped production of chemical arms in the U.S. GW has reversed all of these arms cuts.

"Trade," "war," and disinformation are the current U.S. means of defense. Watch for them to grow, and take some new twists this month. Defense industries are on a roll, but Chiron could throw them a kicker.

Along with visioning, much technological advancement is featured in March—through Neptune, Pallas, and Uranus active in Aquarius, through Saturn now direct in Gemini, and through Chiron in the business sign of Capricorn.

With the combination of visioning and doing, March is, indeed, a very very fast-moving month. Stay conscious! Keep your eye on YOUR ball! We can move far.

Maya's March Travel Report

Best travel days:
March 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30

Worst: March 20.

It’s a rare day that’s perfect for anything. As we who live them know well, most days and periods have their downsides as well as their upsides. To choose a "good" travel day, I make a judgment based on balancing a number of conditions. Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, and Mars have a strong connection with travel, and I especially look at their conditions.

For instance, Jupiter, the planet of travel, goes direct on March 1. This is a good travel influence for the entire month. However, Jupiter as part of the cardinal square of the Full Moon of March 28 lends Jupiter an impulsiveness and volatility that could lead to accidents, so I would eliminate March 28.

Full moons and new moons are not the greatest time to travel, because emotions are at a peak then, and people are not very objective. Crises and irritations most often arise then, which can lead to accidents. This is especially true just before the moon change. I eliminate March 27 for this reason, and also because Juno stations to make her turn on March 27. Station days are in general confusing, and Juno often relates to victims, and definitely to weather conditions.

Even though I eliminated March 28, I put it back as a good day because Moon is in the harmonious air sign of Libra, and makes aspects which allow us to complete our mission of the time, whatever it might be. The Saturn trine stabilizes the energy, and the Neptune trine allows a free flow. We have already passed the full moon’s Sun-Jupiter square, (which could be a problem due to over-optimism and pushing one’s luck), on March 27. Thus we’re off the Jupiter hook of carelessness or overdoing, which can be deadly in travel.

In making a close call, I look at the moon’s final aspect, just before it goes void of course. This shows how the situation will end up. The last aspect of the March 28 moon occurs on March 29. It is a trine to Uranus, which means things will go as you want them to.

I judge March 20 as a difficult travel day because there is a preponderance of uncertainty in the sky that day. E.g., moon eclipses Saturn, to dim the reliability factor, Pluto turns retrograde, thus beaming an inordinate amount of power at us, Sun enters impulsive Aries at a volatile eclipse degree, moon squares Mercury, leading to confusion in regard to details, and aggressive Mars squares strategist Pallas Athena, to challenge her judgment. There are some good travel aspects, however, this day, so the picture is not completely negative.

Mercury has to do with connections and movement, and it’s important in regard to the details of trips. Will you make your connections? Will there be delays? Will you remember the necessities? What will be the mood of your fellow travelers? I look for harmonious Mercury aspects, which aid in smoothness of the trip.

Some people say not to travel during Mercury retrograde. I disagree. True, there may be minor glitches in your trip, but to me the advantage of traveling when you’re seeing things more deeply, as you do during Mercury retrograde, is worth it. However, I don’t recommend travel on the day when Mercury is making its turn retrograde. Indecisiveness and uncertain results can manifest more easily then.

These are just a sample of the things involved in choosing a good travel day. There is also the traveler’s situation—e.g., the purpose of the trip, the destination, the type of travel, and the personal chart.

Travelers, may you fare well!

Maya's March Daily Success Guide

Note: A VOC Moon period is when the Moon is making no further major planetary aspects before it changes signs. Moon and its aspects are strongly associated with our everyday behavior, and without those aspects to direct our course, we are left much more free to pursue our own ends in our own way. It is like you’re driving down the freeway and find the road signs removed for awhile. On the one hand, plans may go awry, you may miss your exit; on the other hand, inner work is greatly favored as those external "instructions" are reduced.

Times used are EST, because the overall influences for the United States are centered in Washington DC.

FRIDAY MARCH 1

Today we sing the theme song for March. Jupiter turns direct, and it’s full steam ahead for various programs and projects. In addition, Mars enters Taurus for the first time in two years. Mars in Taurus wants to see tangible results for its efforts, and all Taurean planets will be highly stimulated for the next six weeks. It’s a great day to push ahead on business and expansion endeavors. Technology in particular is featured. Jupiter direct says to take risks, and to treat life as an adventure.

Moon is in Libra with fine aspects, and the day flows harmoniously. Contact important people, advertise your product, spread your views. Listening to one another is supported today.

This is GW’s monthly Lunar Return, and a new emotional month begins for him, as the moon returns to its home place. Dick Cheney’s moon is also featured, and we will see this pair launch a project which satisfies emotional needs for them both. (Which would be OK, except that they have the power to take the U.S. and the world with them on their personal quests for emotional satisfaction. And are doing it.)

Jupiter also relates to foreign affairs, and all relations abroad are renewed now, for everyone, wherever they live. Jupiter turned retrograde in early November, and we’ve learned a lot about the rest of the world since then—and they about us. Now we can apply it. Travel, too, is favored.

Jupiter is also about alliances and mergers. It’s time to go ahead with new groupings, to ally with new causes, or those you’ve been considering joining.

Religion is also under Jupiter’s aegis. The retrograde Jupiter tends to promote fundamentalism, and now those fundamentalist views may be acted out.

Jupiter oversees all large groups, and business and politics are also part of his domain. Look for changes in both business and politics around this turn of the big guy in the sky.

With today’s great aspects, take that leap you’ve been postponing!

SATURDAY MARCH 2

Moon is VOC in Libra this morning. Enjoy friends and partners. Be spontaneous with companions. At 1:51 p.m. EST Moon enters Scorpio, and it’s time to plunge deeply into your chosen work. Intimate and business relationships are featured today, and may take new turns. Passion runs high, and Taurus Mars wants results. Altruism and social concerns are also on the agenda. New truths may emerge. Deep conversation—no holds barred—is favored tonight.

SUNDAY MARCH 3

Our mood takes an inner turn this morning. Perhaps we are absorbing yesterday’s intensity. Both meditation and investigation may draw us. Some time by water, with the arts, or in nature would be satisfying. Tonight we’re "on" again, and may seek communication with loved ones, or a stimulating video. With Scorpio Moon, emotions run deep.

MONDAY MARCH 4

Early morning holds surprises, perhaps enjoyable ones. At 9:42 a.m., Moon goes VOC, and is without direction until it enters Sagittarius at 4:55 p.m. Hold onto those good feelings and relax into the flow of intensity.

This may be very much of a turnaround, or realignment, day. Expression of our unique, individual vision is the subject, and we can ground it in some fashion. The meaning is universal, and the means are technological. Be spontaneous, and let today’s events emerge.

TUESDAY MARCH 5

Last Quarter Moon at 16 Sagittarius occurs at 8:25 p.m. EST. We’re finishing the Aquarius Moon Cycle. What seeds of self-realization have we planted? How has our social consciousness developed? Have we clarified our ideals of a just society, and our role in creating it? At Last Quarter we let go of all that seems extraneous in terms of our answers to these questions.

Now, with Pisces Sun and Sag Moon, we feel the need to be more universal, more oriented toward the common good, less self-seeking. We can throw off false ego trips, or old baggage, which prevent our pursuing our highest potential of service to the collective.

We have a great aid in letting go. Moon now conjoins Pluto, the great transformer. We can make big, transformative changes during the next week.

This Moon-Pluto conjoins the U.S. Ascendant, indicating a change of consciousness for the American people. With Sun in Pisces, that change could incorporate greater, more comprehensive compassion.

Connected times are early December 1999, when the Battle of Seattle occurred, and Elian Gonzalez was being fought about by Cuba and the U.S., with the biggest demonstration in Havana since the winning of the Revolution in 1959. June 6, 2001 is also related. Then Republican Senator James Jeffords announced his party switch, and control of the Senate went to the Democrats.

The SABIAN SYMBOL for 16 Sagittarius is:

"SEA GULLS FLY AROUND A SHIP IN EXPECTATION OF FOOD. The easily acquired dependence of our psychic desires upon the stimulation of social circumstances. Natural instincts feed on the reactions, and often the perversions, of the socially-conditioned mind-ego. Nature can readily become subservient to man’s restless ambition to dominate the entire biosphere."

WEDNESDAY MARCH 6

Travel time! Moon in Sag says to let go of your cares, and expand your soul. Take some R and R time before we buckle down to work tomorrow.

THURSDAY MARCH 7

Moon is in ambitious Capricorn, and we are serious about accomplishing important goals. This is a great day for planting new seeds through taking the initiative, and through contacts with influential people. Energy flows easily. Tonight Venus enters the warrior sign of Aries, and manifestation of power accelerates, particularly for the U.S. This is the first turn of a one-year power cycle which began last Dec. 6, when the agreement for the interim government in Afghanistan was signed, and when the House approved Fast Track for the hemispheric trade bill. What did you begin around that time?

FRIDAY MARCH 8

Moon goes VOC in Capricorn at 10:06 a.m. and remains void until tomorrow morning. We are under the influence of powerful Pluto and purposeful Capricorn, but during VOC time the key is to be spontaneous, and flow with the unexpected. It’s a great time for all types of readings, which thrive on this day’s character--spontaneity, the power of transformation, and serious purpose.

SATURDAY MARCH 9 and SUNDAY MARCH 10

Moon is in Aquarius, the sign of friends, groups, and new ideas. This is a great weekend for a seminar, or any kind of group gathering. What comes out of this weekend can open our minds and change our thinking in a major way. Saturday is geared to action; Sunday is more meditative.

We have two conjunctions this weekend, which means new starts—seed planting—of two new cycles. Mercury plus Uranus equals our annual bright idea cycle. This is the seventh year they have met in Aquarius, and we have one more year to go of Aquarian reformist thinking. This is a major beginning, for Mercury and Uranus now conjoin the historic U.S. progressed Sun-Natal Moon meeting which I wrote about last month.

Today will give us clues about what kind of thinking will power our new national 360-year Aquarian cycle.

Strategist Pallas-Athena is intimately involved in this process, for her natal position is conjunct the U.S. Moon in Aquarius. Pallas in Aquarius is the voice of the future. Pallas is an architect, and she now begins a new cycle of designing forms which will serve the U.S. for years to come. With Aquarius, science and technology will be big.

Pallas Athena in the heavens is also in Aquarius. There are two major ramifications here. The first is that today Pallas conjoins Neptune in Aquarius, the second of the weekend’s two conjunctions. Here she begins a new four-year cycle of visioning her plans for the future. New ideas, new artistic productions, reform and revolution are all encouraged by Pallas in Aquarius. This conjunction trines Saturn in Gemini, telling us that these dreams will definitely be brought into form, particularly through information and media.

The second ramification is that Pallas in Aquarius will be soon returning to her natal position in the U.S. chart. She retrogrades part of this year, and does not make the final natal return until January 2003, to set new blueprints for the nation.

Those blueprints, their final versions drawn up in January 2003, will last for 359 years, and their seeds are being planted today.

How do we envision the United States in the Age of Aquarius? Our pictures today set the scene.

Cheney and Bush are instrumental in creating a dream of the world to come. Today’s conjunction, where we envision future strategy, falls right on Cheney’s Sun. Thus he vitalizes it. It falls on Bush’s Descendant and on his Ceres in Aquarius, and GW’s role is to bring it to the public.

We are living, right now, in the future. This is a time of enormous changes in consciousness, and there is the opportunity now to pin down our ideas of a better world, to bathe them in light, and to hold them steady in our hearts as we move into a changed world.

Pay attention this weekend, and remember to keep your thoughts, words, and deeds on a high and holy level.

This is a perfect time to work with Crystal’s meditation. Gather a group, and work on it together. Shared work adds to its power to transform.

MONDAY MARCH 11

This morning look for a surprise or an illumination—or create one! Moon goes VOC in Aquarius at 2:28 p.m. EST, and you may have the urge to stop work early, and do your own thing this evening. Aquarius likes freedom. Moon goes into Pisces at 9:56 p.m. Usually this is a good sign for sleeping, but tonight you may be awake, talking and thinking about the future. Call in the angels. Call in your guides. Let them accompany you on your journey.

TUESDAY MARCH 12

Moon is in Pisces for the entire day, and we can prepare for New Moon tomorrow night. Optimism makes the morning flow well. By afternoon we begin to shut down, perhaps due to hard work, serious issues, or feelings of apprehension.

Venus, the lover, squares Jupiter, the great benefic, and we see the final turning point of a ten-month cycle which began last August 5. This is a cycle of expansion and action in the service of something we love. What was it for you? I was working on petitions against our proposed monster public safety building then. With the last quarter square, we can let go of something, hopefully for our group the struggle to be heard by the city.

Chiron is part of the picture now, and we can look for a new and unexpected turn. Venus in Aries is always ready for new challenges, and perhaps now our group can begin a dialog with the city regarding an alternative building. Chiron in Capricorn does refer to business and government.

This cycle finishes next June 3.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 13

New Moon at 24 Pisces occurs at 9:02 p.m. EST. Pisces New Moon begins the new visionary cycle. Both yesterday and today are excellent for clarifying those visions which we want to project into the new cycle. This is another plutonic moon, which means we are taking another big transformational step. The change process happening now began last Friday.

This powerful New Moon conjoins Dick Cheney’s natal moon in Pisces, opening up a new phase of growth for him, and lending his emotional impulses to our new visionary start.

Stimulating Mars goes into high gear today, and for the rest of the month moves the revolution into continuous action. Mars in Taurus means business. Today Mars trines Chiron in Capricorn, where he will pick up that maverick energy for the remainder of his trip through Taurus. Thus the revolution refers especially to Capricornian business and government. Pluto, now prominent, opens us to dark, hidden recesses, and it is likely that more secrets will tumble out concerning connections and corruptions in the political-business world.

Chiron means realignment in a healing fashion, as in chiropracty. It entered Capricorn last mid-December, when the U.S. abrogated the ABM treaty and Israel cut off relations with Arafat, and will be there through 2005. Capricorn refers to all ruling authorities and structures, and they are up for adjustment during these years. This New Moon begins a new cycle of pushing those changes along.

Pisces is psychic and intuitive, and can open doors to many dimensions. This is a great day for meditation, and for exploring the mysteries of life. Keep your activity level low today; we’re in vulnerable dark-of-the-moon time.

If you have a planet between 6-9 degrees, look for action during this next month.

The Sabian Symbol for 24 Pisces is:

"ON A SMALL ISLAND SURROUNDED BY THE VAST EXPANSE OF THE SEA, PEOPLE ARE SEEN LIVING IN CLOSE INTERACTION. The need to consciously accept one’s own personal limitations in order to concentrate one’s energies and to live a centered and fulfilled life. The island’s inhabitants get subsistence from the sea, and in time learn to navigate the sea and interact with other islanders—and all eventually will come to realize their oneness within the whole Earth, which includes everything. CENTRALIZATION."

This Pisces New Moon sets off events related to the Solar Eclipse of last December 14. It also marks the end of the Magic Rectangle which has been in force since that December eclipse, and which has operated to automatically move events in a destined fashion. Israel-Palestine and Afghanistan have been riding this train.

The New Moon rises through Afghanistan, and sets along the U.S. West Coast. Pushy Jupiter and Mars cross in the center of Europe, perhaps referring to Swiss banks.

Visionary Neptune is on the nadir in Washington. It combines with Mars setting, which means those visions are involved with aggressive relations with others. Neptune-Mars is often a combination of deep and nameless fears, in this case related to lack of feeling secure in the face of others’ aggressions. Cuba, Colombia, and Peru are particular targets.

Catalytic Mercury-Uranus runs through Latin America, eastern Africa, and the Middle East. In the Far East, Uranus-Mercury trail in the path of GW’s recent visit. Bush has apparently provoked new realizations in the orient.

Moon goes VOC after it has met with Sun, and we have tonight and tomorrow morning to absorb its energies. Take it easy during this time.

THURSDAY MARCH 14

Moon enters Aries at 10:34 a.m., and we march bravely ahead with our new mandates. The mood is enthusiastic and optimistic. The action we began on Tuesday in regard to expanding our values can be completed now, and we move into a 3-month home stretch. It involves letting go of something in the past in order to manifest something new in the future.

Mother Ceres now challenges dedicated Vesta. We can feel this as a conflict between our emotional nurturing impulses and our dedication to society’s impersonal demands. We feel keenly the struggle to focus on our work, and at the same time to nurture self, family, friends, and community. Choosing work which is nurturing is one way to resolve this stress.

Threats to security and financial systems are also likely with this aspect.

FRIDAY MARCH 15

This is another of those long, brimful days. Moon is in energetic Aries, and there are continual aspects from 5 a.m. until midnight. Two of them involve Venus, which means that we are stabilizing and/or demonstrating our values. Venus is also associated with good social relations, money, works of art, and whatever is important to us. This is also a day for mind-expansion, perhaps through some of the many people in our lives today.

But all is not hearts and flowers. Assertive Mars squares mysterious Neptune to jar us at very deep levels. This can be simply stimulating, or it can be hurtful or scary, depending on what Mars is dredging up from our unconscious today. At best, this challenge can stimulate our visions of a better world and at the same time help us figure out how to get there.

Today is Islamic New Year.

SATURDAY MARCH 16

Freedom is important today. Maybe after yesterday’s busy-ness, today we want to tend to our own life. Moon goes VOC at 4:07 p.m. Enjoy an adventure this evening—on your own or with others.

SUNDAY MARCH 17

Happy St. Pat’s Day! Moon in Taurus will appreciate wearing of the green today. The morning starts out happy and buoyant, but by afternoon conflict may set in. It can wear many faces, e.g., compassion vs. coldness, religious vs. secular, mystical vs. factual, human law vs. spiritual law, solitude vs. sociability. The essential needs are to both communicate with god-goddess, and to make that communication effective in the real world. The evening may be especially active, or we may feel moody, withdrawn, and irritable, especially if there is any blowback from Friday’s challenge.

MONDAY MARCH 18

Moon in Taurus has no aspects today. We can work productively, but at our own pace and in our own way, relatively free from interruptions. Solitude may beckon, but at the same time community rights are on our mind. One way to combine solitude and community is to work in the garden, with the community of plants. Taurus does enjoy the garden.

TUESDAY MARCH 19

Moon goes VOC at 7:53 a.m., and enters Gemini at 10:20 a.m. This is the signal to begin a communication rampage—or perhaps a communication shutdown. Or both at the same time. In general, communication is very energized today. At the same time, Saturn and Vesta join in Gemini to begin a new four-year cycle. They are both fearful of "outsiders," and in the sign of communication this can lead to secrecy, surveillance, and in general, blocking and tying up communication channels. Both Saturn and Vesta are dedicated to protecting the status quo, and their gimlet eyes will now focus on all forms of communication. This is fine energy for WORK in the communication fields, where a productive and reliable focus is needed. Vesta also rules investments, and seeds can be planted now for a resurgence of electronic communication.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 20

Spring is here! Vernal Equinox, when Sun enters Aries, occurs at 2:16 p.m. EST. Moon now is relatively new, getting ready to make that first quarter leap tomorrow. This means that the mood of our spring season is fresh, hopeful, growing—just like spring itself. Last year we had old moons at our spring and summer seasonal changes, telling us that it was time to let go. We did let go of many of our ideals of democracy and human dignity, and on September 11 we got a signal to let go of our complacency. Now it is time for a renewed start.

Mars, ruler of Sun in Aries, is now in Taurus. Taurus, sign of the bull, and Aries, sign of the ram, make an unstoppable combination. They push through to their goals, period. Mars, however, will receive some come-uppance from Juno in Leo and from Pallas Athena with Neptune in Aquarius. These four make a fixed T-square, and with fixed squares there are always power challenges.

There are conflicts here between the might makes right philosophy, disenfranchisement of people, and idealistic struggles for a better world. In individual terms, it is important for us to take human rights into account, including our own, as we steadfastly pursue our goals. A national example of this conflict is spending billions on the military, and letting social needs go begging.

On the other hand, this aspect gives the potential for great spiritual leadership, and for transmitting a spiritual vision which can be made practical. We could, for instance, see a way to turn those military billions into feeding, housing, and cleaning up the world.

All difficult aspects have especially high potentials.

The Saturn-Vesta partnership, focused on tightening up communication, goes into full gear today and tomorrow. Today Moon in Gemini conjoins that combo, to give it emotional impact.

Moon, emotions, and Mercury, perceptions, pull the ongoing Saturn-Pluto opposition into strong play for this spring quarter.

Moon squares Mercury, showing the subjective nature of all communication this spring. Whether we realize it or not, we will be emotionally wrapped up in everything we say and hear. To add to the perceptual confusion, Mercury is in the suggestible sign of Pisces. In addition, Moon opposes Pluto, which gives a shot of obsessiveness, and a desire to control, to all communication. In other words, madness may prevail on a large scale. With Saturn involved, it may be fueled by fear.

We will all need to work to stay grounded and balanced. Compassion is one of the keys to that kingdom of inner harmony.

Someone, most likely the U.S., is apt to make a power move now which will sow this confusion throughout the world. I say this because Pluto, now transiting the U.S. Ascendant, turns retrograde on this already-confusing day.

When a planet changes direction (from earth’s viewpoint), it manifests more strongly. Pluto is about deep, obsessive, compulsive, evolutionary power. GW Bush, with Pluto on his Ascendant, presents a Pluto archetype. Pluto’s developmental challenge is to learn to use power for the good of the collective, or of the "other," in a completely selfless manner. Perhaps we are in a collective process of learning this necessity—for the sake of survival. In any event, power strikes of all kinds can be apparent during these days. They may give us our assignment in power to study for the next five months of Pluto retrograde.

Making ceremony to call in our guides and allies from the other side is very important today, especially those with a plutonic character, like Kali and Pele. We need to keep open the positive and healing channels for strong forces. We could also call in Kwan Yin, the goddess of compassion.

The Sabian Symbol for 15 Gemini, the placement of the Moon, is:

"TWO DUTCH CHILDEREN TALKING TO EACH OTHER, EXCHANGING THEIR KNOWLEDGE. The need to clarify one’s experiences through actual contacts with like-minded individuals. All discoveries must be checked, and their validity must be tested. In old tribal cultures a person’s "great dreams" were accepted as valid and acted upon only if another tribesperson also had a similar dream. The need for OBJECTIVITY has to be met and this implies the confirmation of any subjective realization by some similar experience. It implies also the type of dualism inherent in all mental experiences as well as in mental concepts."

Indeed, we need to talk with one another during this season.

The challenging Mars-Neptune square is active on the U.S. east coast, Venezuela, Argentina, the southern and eastern parts of Africa, the Middle East, Moscow, China, the Koreas, and Indonesia.

Shocking Uranus shows on the U.S. east coast, Brazil, Moscow, the Middle East, eastern Africa, Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

Afghanistan is crowded with Moon, Sun, Pluto and Saturn, which make up the core of planetary action now. Kurdestan is also part of this complex. Our year’s great structural adjustment is centered there. It will complete itself in Afghanistan, as well, since this completion occurs before Summer Solstice.

Pluto runs through the Far East, which is, in general, perhaps the most dynamic place on the planet now.

Other places of note are California, Kashmir, and Turkey. Israel shows Mars and Uranus, a very impulsive, volatile, combination.

Japan endures Uranus and Saturn together, which shows disruption of the status quo. With Vesta also involved with Saturn, it could be that Japan’s ailing financial system falls apart. This would definitely lead to worldwide confusion and insecurity.

Global finances could, in fact, be the major structural adjustment which the world is undergoing with the Pluto-Saturn opposition.

THURSDAY MARCH 21

Moon continues in Gemini, and we will be spontaneous, outgoing, and communicative for most of the day. Moon goes VOC at 1:14 p.m., and enters Cancer at 7:06 p.m. The mood changes tonight. We become more introspective, more home-oriented, and more concerned about our comfort and security.

Security is the focus of First Quarter Moon at 9:28 p.m. This Moon occurs at 2 Cancer. It is a double first quarter, because it is also the First Quarter of a longer cycle which began with the Summer Solstice Solar Eclipse of 2001.

First quarters are breakthrough times. Picture the plant growing underground during the first quarter of its cycle, and then breaking through the surface of the soil, where it can be seen and tended, at First Quarter. This will be a big plant, with a big breakthrough.

Or perhaps several breakthroughs. There were many major events seeding this Moon around June 21, 2001.

  • California was deep into its power crisis, and power manipulation details were appearing daily in the papers.

  • Noises about campaign reform began to appear.
  • Japan announced economic reforms.

  • Arabs got very angry when the U.S. charged 13 Saudis as terrorists in regard to the Khobar Towers bombing in 1996.

  • Gen. Pervez Musharaff took over the presidency of Pakistan.

  • Following GW’s visit, Russia said it would upgrade its arms.

  • There were huge protests in various cities in Europe against exploitation by global capitalism.

  • Ariel Sharon of Israel was accused by Belgium of war crimes in allowing the 1982 massacre at Shabila in Lebanon. A few days later, Sharon visited GW in Washington. In Washington, Human Rights Watch also said Sharon should be indicted.

  • The big UN AIDS Conference took place.

  • International affairs were, in general, very prevalent during this week.

This day is expansive and adventurous, but strictly in the interests of security. Jupiter is featured now, moderated by the wounded healer, Chiron. Chiron is in Capricorn, where its work is to realign business and government. We certainly see it busy now opening up corporate cans of worms. This is Chiron, wounding in the short run, but healing in the long run.

FRIDAY MARCH 22

Yesterday’s action continues. Cancer Moon eclipses Jupiter early this morning, and four hours later it opposes Chiron. The Jupiter-Chiron opposition is the month’s major aspect, and now it is highlighted. It means making bold moves to heal and realign entrenched interests. Look for exposes, or news concerning power issues. Family conflicts may surface now. The law, or laws, may be an issue. Business situations may take surprising turns. Oppositions often bring out polarization, i.e., taking sides. Keep your personal vision in mind.

SATURDAY MARCH 23

Moon is VOC in Cancer for the day. This is a perfect day to stay home and relax. Putter around, cook, garden, enjoy the comforts of home. Mars squares Juno today, perhaps bringing out more information regarding abuse of the system. We may find our own relationship balance challenged, but we can rebalance by really listening to the other, walking in their shoes.

SUNDAY MARCH 24

Moon is in energetic Leo today. This morning is very constructive—in fact, go for a building project. By mid-afternoon, energy goes down, and reading, dreaming, taking a walk in nature, or sitting by water are favored. Taking a nap this afternoon is to be prepared, for the next few nights may be restless.

MONDAY MARCH 25

We’ve got a bee in our bonnet, and really want to move ahead with our projects this morning. Cooperation jells in the morning, but by afternoon we want to go our own way. Independence brings success. Moon goes VOC at 8:57 p.m. EST.

TUESDAY MARCH 26

Moon is in Virgo, and work is the order of the day. The next 48 hours are very stimulating, and our nervous systems are on edge. We may feel a crisis or showdown coming, and yet not be able to pin it down. Yes, work can ground us. Focus on real problems on your plate right now. One of them may be a conflict between working in cooperation and going it alone. Again, focus on the task at hand can help to resolve this dilemma.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 27

Good problem-solving energy continues, and we may feel optimistic about our accomplishments. Today we have a final turning point in a one-year cycle of dynamic expansion and growth. This cycle began on June 14, 200l, when GW was creating hostility in Europe with his stands on NATO and on global warming. Penelope and I did special work on her healing on that day.

Juno turns direct today, and her relating principle is strong now. Juno wants relationships that are fair, civil, and egalitarian. However, she can give her power away to her partner, and then she becomes the abused wife, or the victim. Juno is now in Leo, and there she wants admiration, applause, and ego support. She wants to be the star of the show. Pallas in Aquarius opposing her is saying that the collective is more important than individual recognition. Yet all planets in Leo are super strong, and Juno will insist on being center stage. There may be conflicts in partnerships over this issue.

THURSDAY MARCH 28

Full Moon at 8 Libra occurs at 1:25 p.m. EST. New Moon was in Pisces, so this Moon in Libra is the culmination of a Piscean Moon Cycle, where we planted new seeds of vision and inspiration. Libra says that for these seeds to be viable, we need just and harmonious relationships. It is, indeed, relationships which make all things manifest on this blessed earth.

Full moons are bright. They illuminate. They allow us to see things. This Full Moon is particularly exciting. We have fiery Aries Sun taking the lead, showing us new relationship paths. Venus, now in Aries, helps us assert ourselves within partnerships. With Aries, Libra Moon may have to fight for equal treatment. Libra is, in fact, excellent at fighting for her rights.

This is a moon which stirs struggles for social justice.

This is also a moon which fuels love and partnership.

Mars, Aries’ planet, is in Taurus, one of Venus’ signs. Mars in Taurus is persistent, deliberate, and systematic. Mars in Taurus appreciates the feminine. Venus, Libra’s planet, is now in Aries, one of Mars’ signs. In Aries Venus is bright and quick, ever young, and she is drawn to masculine energy. This inter-relationship of Mars and Venus is a gourmet recipe for love and passion. Savor your love now. And let equality reign.

We are, in fact, now preparing for a new love/values cycle which begins in early May. Venus and Mars come together in Gemini on May 10. This will be a powerful, transformative cycle, for then they both oppose Pluto.

This Full Moon encompasses much more than the insight and awareness of a Sun-Moon opposition. It exactly squares the Jupiter-Chiron opposition, so that these four planets are intimately involved in creating a square. The signs—Aries, Libra, Cancer for Jupiter, and Capricorn for Chiron—are all cardinal signs. Thus we have a grand cardinal square. This is the most dynamic of formations, and must be active. It can be explosive, particularly with such active planets involved. We feel pressure from all fronts of our lives, and must make a move. Jupiter shows the involvement of business; Chiron of electronics.

The wheel of the chart set for Washington DC is almost identical to that of GW. This Full Moon will set him off like a firecracker. In addition, there are many contacts from this Full Moon chart to GW’s chart, but most notably, Moon now conjoins his Neptune, where he projects his visions of personal power.

For all of us, we can begin grounding our new visions and ideals in the real world of our families and our businesses. This Moon reminds us that egalitarian relationships are the centerpiece of that grounding.

The Sabian Symbol for 8 Libra is:

"A BLAZING FIREPLACE IN A DESERTED HOME. The need to realize that even through the most empty hours a spiritual power is ever ready to welcome and warm up the wayward consciousness returning to center. Within the abandoned great dream, some intangible and warm presence remains: the ever renascent HOPE for a rebeginning."

Yes, that fire is there, simply waiting for us to come warm ourselves again.

Many specific countries and cities are featured in this Full Moon map. Moon itself goes over central Canada, central U.S., and Mexico. The UK, Spain, and western Africa are impacted by the full moon, along with India and New Zealand.

There is explosive energy in the Caspian Sea and the Arabian Peninsula areas, and specifically over Baghdad, Iraq. Today is Passover, and Israel too shows surprising turns, as does, in fact, the entire Arab world. We may see the rebellion against Israel’s occupation of Palestine pop open—and thereby perhaps induce a real peace process.
There will be news from India, Pakistan, Kashmir, Kabul, Kurdestan, and Kazakhstan. And perhaps from Iceland as well.

Japan continues to show disruption, as do Moscow, Indonesia and Brazil.

Buenos Aires and Cape Town, on the same latitude, are both high-energy locations now. Mars also goes through China and the Philippines, lending its fighting spirit to those areas.

We will all be stirred by this very dynamic Full Moon, fueled by warrior Aries energy.

FRIDAY MARCH 29

Moon is still in Libra, keeping us focused on relationships. Mercury enters Aries today, to support the fight for justice. The day moves at a fast pace, which ends when Moon goes VOC at 7:57 p.m. There could be some misunderstanding over rights then. Talk it over and clear it up.

SATURDAY MARCH 30

Moon in Scorpio turns our attention inward. This is an R-and-R day, and we can refresh our spirits, perhaps with a day in nature. Don’t sweat it. We can consciously bring spirit into Easter preparations, and we may stay awake tonight doing it.

SUNDAY MARCH 31

Moon is in Scorpio this Easter Sunday, a fitting sign for the death and resurrection celebration of the season. Easter is that rare western holiday which combines Sun, Moon, and calendar cycles. It occurs on the first Sunday after the first full moon after Spring Equinox.

This is a significant day. We feel energetic and vital, and eager to set in motion our new projects. By tomorrow Venus will be in Taurus, and we can move on them in a new way. Our resurrected selves can make those dreams real, as we rejoin the world in this new season.
