General Influences, November 2003

With Sun in Scorpio during most of the month, November is dominated by Scorpio's energy field. Scorpio pushes us to evolve, to transform, to regenerate. We often must go to extremes before we can make those deep changes which are necessary to rehabilitate ourselves. And in Scorpio we have the power and the courage to push the limits, to get to the bottom of issues, and to release the deadwood which covers a deeper self. Scorpio can be a time of healing and of deep therapy.

Scorpio opens us to great power, and this season is a test of how we use that power. Do we use it to heal ourselves and others, or to destroy ourselves and others? With Scorpio there is no middle ground. During this time it is important to have a moral compass, for power can itself be an elixir. But power for what? How do we apply our power? What power both inside and outside of ourselves do we support?

This is the season of the year to ask ourselves where we really want to go, how we really want to grow, what we really want to change. Now we can do the hard work of releasing those habits and patterns which block our pathway, for Scorpio is at home with death of all kinds. And with birth as well.

The climax of this death and rebirth occurs on November 26, the day before Thanksgiving, when Mars directs his energy at Pluto, Scorpio's planet, through a square, which always means action and turning points. Thanksgiving this year will be a special time of regeneration.

Transformation during November is further aided by two eclipses. The first, a Lunar Eclipse on November 8, eclipses unconscious drives and allows consciousness full play. In turn, the Solar Eclipse on November 23 eclipses consciousness, and allows the unconscious full rein. We can set our intentions, then, before the first eclipse, and allow our instinctive selves to guide us with the second eclipse. With both eclipses, new doorways open and old doorways close.

Eclipses are major catalysts. They are especially effective around eclipse times, but they are strong for up to two or three years on either side of the eclipse, and often effective for many years. The current eclipses relate to resources, and to expansion.

The November eclipses are particularly strong. They are both total, and they both are at extra-sensitive degrees. The November 8 Lunar Eclipse is visible in eastern North America, as well as in much of Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, and Antarctica. The November 23 Solar Eclipse ranges around the South Pole. It is visible in New Zealand, Australia, Antarctica, the South Pacific, and the southern tip of South America.

The Scorpio energy is indeed deeply transformational, but we will feel overtones of adventure and exuberance, and many of us are apt to travel. This is because Sagittarius is the most occupied sign during November.

Sagittarius is also associated with politics, and these next two months will be very political. Scorpio will help us to reveal secrets, and Sagittarius will spread the word. Religion is Sagittarian, and with Scorpio, we are apt to see extremes. Fraternal groups, such as "old boys' clubs" are also Sagittarian, and Scorpio may peek into the back rooms of power.

Mercury, the Messenger, is very active, and news will travel like wildfire. Mercury refers to all kinds of movement. Mercury spends most of the first half of the month in investigative Scorpio, and the rest of the month in the publicity sign of Sagittarius.

Saturn opposing Chiron is the major aspect of this autumn, and has been discussed in the September and October issues of Daykeeper Journal. Saturn is moving retrograde, while Chiron goes on ahead, and they are parting ways, but the aspect is still in close orb until the November 8 Eclipse. This is about structure-changing, and particularly applies to social structures, such as politics, government, business, and church.

The Sun signs of the United States and of GW are particularly caught in this vise, for they are both at 14 degrees of Cancer, right under the heavy foot of Saturn. Fourteen degrees is, in fact, the degree of the month. Many planets and asteroids pass through that degree, and thus activate all natal planets which are at 14 degrees. Check your own chart, and see where the action is focused for you.

Saturn isn't the only energy strongly affecting the United States. Uranus returned from Pisces to Aquarius in mid-September to spend a few months hanging out around the U.S. progressed Sun in the last degree of Aquarius. Uranus encourages reform, progress, technology, and disruption of the status quo. Its influence is almost the opposite from the conservative impulse of Saturn.

This nation may seem quite schizophrenic for the rest of the year. On the one hand, Saturn will cling to the death to the old guard, and on the other hand irrepressible Uranus says that it's time to move on. Polarization will increase.

Mother Ceres is still traveling very slowly in Cancer. She is conjoined the U.S. Mercury until mid-December. Her domain includes everything concerned with getting food to the table. She is bringing up problems connected with the food supply. This includes migrant workers rights, unionizing grocery store workers, food trade conflicts, and contamination of the food supply and the food labor supply by giant corporations, such as Conagra, Cargill, and Monsanto, who have a chokehold on the bulk of the sources of our food.

Jupiter in Virgo has many planetary aspects, and it can help us to sort out the glut of information in which we will be immersed.

November will be a month of power, and of power shifts. We can make deep changes, particularly in our belief systems. There will be a willingness to take risks. Perhaps we can better view politics as a big game, and look at our own participation as taking an appropriate role in the drama.

Maya's November Daily Success Guide

Note: A VOC Moon period is when the Moon is making no further major planetary aspects before it changes signs. Moon and its aspects are strongly associated with our everyday behavior, and without those aspects to direct our course, we are left much more free to pursue our own ends in our own way. It is like you're driving down the freeway and find the road signs removed for awhile. On the one hand, plans may go awry, you may miss your exit; on the other hand, inner work is greatly favored as those external "instructions" are reduced.

Times used are EST, because the overall influences for the United States are centered in Washington DC.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 1

Last night, Halloween, we had the First Quarter action push into the Scorpio moon cycle. Today we have the follow-through, and the activity starts early in the morning. Some may have stayed awake most of the night. Moon is in independent, electric Aquarius, as it was yesterday. We are motivated to express our own truth, including whatever weirdness is running through us.

The energy today presages the energy of the Lunar Eclipse on November 8, and we begin now to build up to that Full Moon. We have five bodies featured at 13-15 degrees. We have Uranus featured in the twenty-ninth degree of Aquarius, and we have Saturn conjoined the U.S. Sun at 13 Cancer.

The chart for today shows a combination of receptivity at home, and assertiveness abroad, of putting things together in a practical, workable fashion, and also promoting things worldwide. These "things" will have to do with power, and perhaps with secrets. Can secrets be discovered? Yes. And can secrets be created? Indeed. Can they be held for any length of time? Probably not.

The structure-changing Saturn-Chiron opposition is still featured. It will have its last hurrah of this round on November 8. The old establishment is, yes, breaking up. Strategist Pallas Athena in the warrior sign of Aries is also featured, and so is the warrior planet of Mars, headed for its opposition with King Jupiter in mid-November.

Visionary energy is rampant, and its results may appear as impulsive action, directed towards getting what we really want. We can make breakthroughs today, especially in the areas of truth and priorities. This day will be stimulating, exciting, and productive.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 2

During this vibrant morning, we can set yesterday's energy in place. At 2:40 p.m. EST, moon goes VOC, and at 2:52 p.m. EST, moon enters Pisces. We are inclined to go with the flow. In fact, being near water would be appealing—in particular, traveling on it, for Venus enters the hobo sign of Sagittarius at 4:42 p.m. Tonight we might be attracted to adventure or science fiction movies.

MONDAY NOVEMBER 3

Pisces does not sit still today. The flow moves along rapidly, and washes over everything in its way. If aims are clear, and we tune into intuition, life is magical. Emotion and practicality can both work in tandem to help us manifest our heart's desires.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 4

Moon is traveling VOC in Pisces, and remains VOC for the entire day. Don't count on plans, or expect things started today to come to fruition as you'd planned. Take some time today for meditation or contemplation. New insights can pop into your mind. This is a great day for inner, spiritual, and creative work. It's like a time out. Tomorrow we can continue our productive work. This will be a very interesting election day. Look for continued upsets.

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 5 and THURSDAY NOVEMBER 6

New social paradigms are being set in motion, and they move along very well. Moon is in Aries, the sign of new beginnings, and we get a smooth start on whatever we initiate now. Our efforts will be extremely productive.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 7

Our pioneering work can continue easily this morning, until moon goes VOC at 9:16 a.m. EST, still in Aries. At 11:29 a.m., moon enters practical Taurus. We can fine-tune our efforts of the last two days, and make them more efficient. Money comes to the fore as a major issue, perhaps with an emphasis on the domestic hardships which correlate with the tax cuts to the richest segment of the nation. Practicality and reality are watchwords of the day.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 8

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 17 Taurus occurs at 8:13 p.m. EST. The Scorpio moon cycle is about deep transformation. Taurus steps in to remind us that there are some things we need to preserve and maintain. The focus now is on priorities and values. Think about what is most important to you.

This is a turning point eclipse. Its timing and its historic antecedents show us that it demarcates a time of decision for the United States about the use of power and resources, which are the focus of both Taurus and Scorpio. Do we choose to use our resources to better people's lives, or to increase the world's destructive arms supply? President Eisenhower's warning as he left office, "Beware of the industrial-military complex," rings loud and clear now.

This is a total eclipse, visible over the eastern part of the United States. It complements the total lunar eclipse of last May, also visible over the U.S., and its degrees are opposite and complementary. This is a very unusual situation, and it singles out the U.S. for lunar, that is to say physical and emotional, change.

Eclipse effects last for many years, but the strongest effects are around eclipse times, and the change process denoted by the eclipse is very strong during the whole one and one-half or two years of eclipses in the given polarity. In the case of Scorpio-Taurus, the polarity lasts for nearly three years, from November 2002 until April 2005. This is an extraordinary length of time, and it indicates great worldwide changes in resource use and power.

However, still the U.S. is singled out, for these total lunar eclipses aspect the U.S. Vesta at 20 Taurus. Vesta is the Goddess of the Hearth, and these eclipses are about security and protection of our turf. We really need to do some hard thinking about where our national security really lies. Are policies such as those of GW really the answer? What should we be investing in? (Vesta rules investments.)

This Moon family started on May 12, 2002. Issues up then were Likkud announcing denial of a Palestinian state, Egypt, Syria, and Saudi Arabia affirming diplomatic channels amongst one another, Cuba, NATO, Enron scandals, and a 5.2 earthquake in California.

A major part of this eclipse is Uranus turning direct early this morning. This tells us that something new and surprising will be revealed. It also tells us that rebellion is on the move again. This may be another weekend for big demonstrations against the status quo. Also, activists may be heating up for their work in counteracting the WTO conference in Miami beginning November 17. (Refer to the October Daykeeper.)

This is an extremely active time. Sudden changes are the order of the day. Read my article in the October-November Mountain Astrologer for a fuller description of this major eclipse.

(Yes, there is a fast-moving hexagon, but this is a fairly common configuration. Energy moves easily and creatively, and the hexagon means productivity, for better or for worse, depending on us.)

The Sabian Symbol for 17 Taurus is

"A SYMBOLICAL BATTLE BETWEEN "SWORDS" AND "TORCHES." Refusing to depend upon the past, the seeker turns warrior, fighting anew the eternal "Great War." When Gautama, having sought in vain for the answers to his questions among the teachers of tradition, sat under the Bodhi Tree, he had to fight his own battle in his own way, even though it is an eternal fight. The spiritual light within the greater Soul must struggle against the ego-will that only knows how to use the powers of this material and intellectual world. There is no possibility of escape; it is the energy that arises out of the Now—that that the daring individual has to use in the struggle. This is a stage of POLARIZATION OF VALUES."

Washington and the Middle East are central now, along with Southeast Asia and India.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 9

Moon continues in productive Taurus, and we experience follow-through on last night's eclipse. Venus conjoins Vesta, and security is uppermost in our minds. This is the beginning of a year-long cycle of establishing security, probably principally through the armed forces. Intuition is strong today. Tonight we may experience a surprise, as another sacred cow is smashed.

MONDAY NOVEMBER 10 and TUESDAY NOVEMBER 11

Moon is in communicative Gemini, and we are on the move, connecting with everything and everybody. Monday's communication is loving, Monday night's is assertive (arguments may arise), and Tuesday's communication reaches out to the world. Gemini can be lots of fun. Enjoy yourself, but watch out for over-sensitivity on Monday night. On Tuesday, connections can be powerful and transformative.

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 12

We are intuitive this morning. Moon in Gemini goes VOC at 10:57 a.m. EST, but we will still be creatively energized, especially in regard to spiritual matters, and in large-scale planning. Architecture and drafting are particularly favored. At 1:10 p.m., moon enters Cancer, and we can continue our work with increased focus and purpose.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13

With Moon traveling through Cancer, our focus turns to our inner selves. This is a solid workday. We can take care of all those details which make our lives work better. Go to it! We may even continue on into the night. The urge is to complete something, and we are willing to push to do it.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14

Moon goes VOC at 8:39 a.m. EST, and remains VOC in Cancer for the remainder of the day. We will feel like sending rules to the winds today, and doing what pleases us. Go ahead. VOC days are best for spontaneous activities. We might especially enjoy reading, puttering around the house, and cooking. Family draws us.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15

With Moon in Leo, purpose returns—at least for the morning. Leo is dramatic, outgoing, exuberant, and hard-working. However, this evening moon pulls in dreamy Neptune, and our imaginations are off and running, perhaps in a romantic vein. Tonight can be very loving.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 16

Last Quarter Moon at 25 Leo occurs at 11:15 p.m. EST. The Scorpio Moon is about power and transformation. Leo is about power and creativity. They are both fixed signs, and power conflicts tend to be part of the tension now. Last quarter is about releasing the trivia of the cycle, and Leo reminds us that what we need comes from our own creative centers, not from control over others.

Moon and Sun now closely aspect Ceres, our goddess of food and nurturing. She pulls their efforts together to make major change in the powers behind our food system.

These next few days offer an extraordinarily powerful window of creativity. This window exists all month, but it is only in close orb for about a week. Idealistic and yet precise action which is healing and inspirational combines harmoniously with disruption, all in the service of institutional reform. This is a time of service, particularly service to the collective. With Leo moon, we are enthusiastic and outgoing about our actions now, which are moved by a new consciousness about letting the past go, at the same time as we plant new seeds.

The beginning of two new cycles, each about one year long, is shown by two conjunctions at this time. Both of these cycles begin in the sign of Sagittarius, which gives them an expansive and promotional character, and helps to disperse their energies worldwide.

Juno, who wants justice, combines with Messenger Mercury, to sow seeds which will grow in our minds and lead to greater equality. Venus combines with Pluto to transform values in such a way that they will become more universal. Both of these cycles will grow for the next year.

Moon conjoins Transpluto, now stationary, and by tomorrow morning Moon will get a powerful transfusion of a rebirth of creative power. Moon represents emotions, and the people. Tomorrow morning we feel an echo of the Full Moon of February 15, 2003, which brought millions of people into the streets to demonstrate against Bush's war.

Sun now is close to the Sun of the Lunar Eclipse of November 19, 2002. That was the day the Senate passed two big public rip-offs—the Homeland "Security" Act, and the taking on of all liability for "terrorist" attacks. Here, somehow, they don't want to privatize.

There are two big events today. One is the opening of the WTO meeting to discuss the FTAA—the Free Trade Association of the Americas. (See article in the October Daykeeper.). The close involvement of Ceres, Goddess of the Harvest, is very appropriate for the agricultural trade agenda planned by the U.S.

The other event now is Howard Dean's birthday. This Quarter Moon chart is Howard's Solar Return, and tells about the energy which characterizes his coming year. (Click here to see Dean's natal chart.) Notice that transiting Saturn is now on his Ascendant, giving him extra focus and drive, and beginning for him a new 29-year cycle of personal responsibility. Saturn will return there in April 2004, at the same time as Mars conjoins his moon, and Jupiter squares it. This shows a big turning point for Dean, and the growth of a new social role for him.

This is a very important Moon in itself. Also realize that we are between two eclipses, which can be a maximal time for shifts.

The Sabian Symbol for 25 Leo is

"A LARGE CAMEL IS SEEN CROSSING A VAST AND FORBIDDING DESERT. At a deeper level of consciousness it is easy to see the value of self-sufficiency as one enters the occult Path leading to a more dynamic and more inclusive realm of existence. In order to be released from bondage to the "Old World" we should be completely self-contained emotionally. Having absorbed the mental food which this old culture has given us, we are ready to fact the desert, nothingness, Sunya….until we reach the ‘new world.'"

Yes, indeed, we shall keep the faith through the desert which lies ahead. Like the camel with his hump, we are sustained.

MONDAY NOVEMBER 17

Moon enters Virgo, the sign of the Great Goddess, at 9:36 a.m. EST. This day is dominated by the feminine forces of the sustainers of life.

All of the asteroids show major aspects. In addition, Venus, Goddess of Love, has descended to the underworld with Pluto, there to have her desires deeply transformed.

Action now will relate to the "new world order," begun with the Neptune-Uranus conjunction of 1993. Today's Pluto/Venus conjunction, at 19 Sagittarius, is on the North Node of the 1993 configuration. The North Node indicates fate, or destiny, and we are now at that fateful crossroads in regard to how we re-organize the world. And I say "we," because we, the people, are the real power. We can pretend to be passive players, but nothing happens without our acquiescence. "Ignorance of the law is no excuse." It is the same with karmic law.

Venus and Pluto conjoin at 19 Sagittarius. This is also the degree of Black Hole Ereshkigal, sister of Inanna and Babylonian goddess of the underworld. The following description, which is right on, is from The Black Hole Book by Alex Miller-Mignone:

"When Inanna appears at the gates to Ereshkigal's domain, she announces herself as "Inanna, of the place where the Sun rises." To which the porter replies: "Why have you come to the place of no return?" The light of consciousness is rarely cast upon the depths of the subconscious. When it is, the shadows often conceal more than is revealed.

"And yet, creativity springs from those dark, unexplored corners…

"Closely tied to the 1993 Uranus/Neptune conjunctions [Ed. note: That conjunction denoted a major shift in world consciousness, economics, and government], Inanna and Ereshkigal are likely to see their true ascendancy during the Pluto conjunction of those Black Holes in 2003-2004. Double stations conjoined Ereshkigal at this time should impel a massive healing of right brain functioning, and a return to the consciousness of the circle, as opposed to today's linear predominance." (p.87-88)

We are surely seeing this shift in the rebellion of the "developing" nations against the WTO—immediately personified by the proposed FTAA, and much more generally, in the rising tide of discontent worldwide, as a more holistic consciousness is pushing through old straitjackets. Chiron, still in its long opposition to Saturn, is also doing exactly this. Chiron's central work is to re-align us so that we can use more of our potential, become more whole, heal. And Chiron working within Capricorn is healing established institutions.

The Sabian Symbol for 19 Sagittarius, the degree of this important conjunction which is a marker of the emergence of a great shift of values, is

"PELICANS MENACED BY THE BEHAVIOR AND REFUSE OF MEN SEEK SAFER AREAS FOR BRINGING UP THEIR YOUNG. The need for people concerned with the future to discover a new way of living and more wholesome surroundings.

Tradition tells us that pelicans are so concerned with their young that they give their own blood and flesh to feed their progeny. Whether this is fact or symbol, the meaning of this picture refers to a situation that lately has acquired great urgency. Our technological society is polluting not only our global environment, but the minds and feeling-responses of new generations as well. The search for a new way of life is seen by many to be imperative. SURVIVAL. A generation may have to sacrifice itself for the sake of its descendants."

Pluto traverses these Black Hole degrees through 2004.

This is a busy Virgo day, as is tomorrow, with excitement and surprises. Tomorrow night Moon jumpstarts this Pluto-Venus conjunction in Sagittarius by squaring it.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 18

Moon continues moving through Virgo, motivating us to solve problems, repair things and situations, and better ourselves. Virgo is most industrious, and today she stimulates extra energy. Both yesterday and today, thoughts of security may dominate our minds. Ideas of joining with others are also becoming more important.

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 19

We may complete things by early this morning. At 9:15 a.m. Moon goes VOC. Moon enters Libra at 2:42 p.m. In Libra peace and harmony is important, but even more importantly, Libra demands social justice. Libra is the most social of the signs, and perhaps the most idealistic. Ideals of loving harmony can call Libra to battle. We are socially involved for the next two days.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 20

We are going into a dynamite weekend. We begin today with Mars opposing Jupiter. This aspect has been building all month—in the service, purification polarity of Pisces-Virgo. Pisces is also expansive and unifying. These planets combine much energy, optimism, and ambition. It is a quintessential signature of the military. (Gen. Wesley Clark has Mars in Sag square Jupiter in Virgo.) Mars here, buoyed by Jupiter, is willing to take on all comers, to the point of sometimes overextending itself. However, most often Mars/Jupiter indicates a successful application of intense energy. In the case of the opposition, it may be against a foe. Sagittarius is the dominant sign now stimulated, and this means that our attention is drawn to travel, promotion, publicity, groups of people, and politics.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 21

Moon is still traveling in Libra, until it enters Scorpio at 4:24 p.m. The big news today is independence, revolution, do your thing. Uranus in Aquarius squares Sun in Scorpio. We have 20 hours with both Sun and Moon in Scorpio, and this is the time for our final Scorpio catharsis. Revelations may be in order.

We have been feeling Libra, the great balancing sign. Suddenly in Scorpio, balance loses its importance. Rather, "let's throw our resources in the pot and use them to the advantage of both of us—but I want to be in control" (which can lead to problems). Sun's last aspect was with Ceres, the Great Mother, and the food supply still dominates our consciousness.

Aspects today are very harmonious and workable. Mercury and Vesta join on the U.S. ascendant, bringing security in foreign lands home to the people. This conjunction begins a one-year cycle of security consciousness, especially in regard to foreign shores.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 22

The very old balsamic moon continues in Scorpio, and we tend to turn inward. This is the perfect time to envision the future, and set intentions for the next moon cycle. Late tomorrow we experience a Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius. Between now and then, let go of everything, and take time to listen to your inner voices as they come through. It is fortunate that this period occurs on a weekend, for both Saturday and Sunday comprise a 48-hour span during which we can release the reins, like a time out of life.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 23

The New Moon Solar Eclipse at 2 Sagittarius occurs at 4:02 p.m. The Sagittarius moon cycle is about moving into the world, spreading the word, letting the world know the truth of the matter and what we are about. In Scorpio we went through the dark tunnel of initiation. Now in Sagittarius we emerge into the bright sunlight, spread our wings, and fly. We feel reborn, and the world is our oyster. We want to announce it to one and all.

Sun and Moon's last contacts were their squares with Uranus, and they come into this fresh world with a great deal of independence. This eclipse will renew our autonomy, both personally and in the world. Uranus can also indicate surprises, and in Washington DC it is exactly overhead.

Mars is still jazzed up from its opposition to adventurous Jupiter, and it's now building up to a very assertive square with Pluto on Wednesday. At the same time, during the 48 hours from last night through tomorrow night, both Mercury and Moon square Mars and conjoin Pluto to fill our hearts and minds with aggressive vibes.

This is a dangerous time. A solar eclipse hides consciousness and allows the unconscious to rule. Sagittarius is the sign of the gambler. And aggressive Mars/Pluto impulses are raining into our head and heart, represented by Mercury and Moon.

Moon not only transits over Mercury tomorrow night; but it also eclipses Mercury, thus blotting out logic, and giving Mercury extra significance. Mercury adds to the already-strong movement and travel urges of this time.

Sagittarius is expansive. It is a no-holds-barred sign, always ready to go. It is very helpful now to have a plan of action, as a channel for the energy which is being released.

The Sabian Symbol for 2 Sagittarius is

"WHITE-CAPPED WAVES DISPLAY THE POWER OF WIND OVER SEA. The mobilization of unconscious energies under the pressure of superpersonal motives. We have a picture which contrasts the powerful but beautiful storms of nature with the often gory and hysterical crises of a civilization which progresses through war. SUBTILIZATION THROUGH RHYTHMIC INTENSITY."

This New Moon rises through Beijing, and Mercury with Mars and Jupiter crosses over the Philippines.

MONDAY NOVEMBER 24

This is a day of travel, energy, and intensity. We see the world in a new way, and feelings run deep. We do, in fact, begin a major new cycle in our grand perspective of life. The renewal of the incorporation of feelings into our approach to life, as shown by the conjunction a week ago of Pluto and Venus (reread the November 17 entry), breaks forth now. Sagittarius is a born-again sign, and optimism for the future prevails. Follow your bliss.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 25

The good feeling continues, especially this morning, as Moon meets Venus to affirm the beginning of a more expansive, inclusive emotional journey. Moon goes VOC at 1:57 p.m. EST, and enters sober Capricorn at 3:31 p.m. Capricorn is a sign of family, tradition, and work, and in the U.S. we begin now to focus on preparing for Thanksgiving. Getting together with family and friends may keep us talking tonight until late.

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 26

Energy is very intense today, but at the same time, with Moon in Capricorn, it is focused. Although with Mars square Pluto, there is always the possibility of bullying, or getting carried away with power, the available energy is more apt to be used constructively—Capricorn—or to solve problems—Virgo. This is a superb work day, and we can keep going until Moon goes VOC at 10:52 p.m.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 27

After yesterday's push, we are ready to relax. We might like to spend this day alone, or we might want to hang out with friends or family, and just reminisce about the "good old days." Moon is VOC in Capricorn until it enters Aquarius at 4:48 p.m. EST. After that time, companionability and stimulating conversation rule the roost. Perhaps we want to share our reborn visions of the world. Music will be very satisfying.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 28

Whatever we choose to do, today is probably easy and satisfying. We're still thinking about the world, and we may want to talk about it, write about it, or read about it. New ideas for improvements may come to us. Let your mind ebb and flow, as it chooses.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 29

Our mood will be similar to yesterday's—easygoing and communicative. Today, however, we will want to be more active, with our minds and bodies, and socially as well. This would be a great weekend for a seminar, especially one where we look at some new paradigms.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 30

First Quarter Moon at 9 Pisces occurs at 12:16 p.m. EST. During the first half of the moon cycle, we start new things. We often have to push through inertia to make those new moves, and first quarter is the peak of that time. It is our first major turning point in the moon cycle. Pisces and Sag work well together. They are both expansive, they both have a basic spiritual approach, and they both need concrete forms to channel their universal energy. This can be a time of raising our spiritual vibration, recognizing our common humanity, and participating in life as part of an altruistic group.

For the next two days, we can be serious about our spiritual and human values. Appropriately, Advent begins today.

Both Pisces and Sagittarius are signs of dispersal, and micro-organisms and chemicals can spread easily now. Furthermore, we are attracted to public places and to travel.

In the chart set for Washington, Juno is overhead and Uranus is rising.

Furthermore, the midheaven degree, which Juno conjoins, is the same as the U.S. Ascendant, 13 Sagittarius. And the Ascendant now is at 30 Aquarius, conjoined the U.S. progressed Sun. This says that the U.S. is deeply involved in a sudden, disruptive event. Juno is commonly involved in terror. (She was overhead at the first Tower crash on 9-ll.)

Also on the midheaven now is a Pluto-Vesta conjunction, showing that the security of the Administration lies in explosive power.

Moon is about to rise, followed quickly by assertive Mars. Mars at 22 Pisces is now square the U.S. Mars, and about to oppose the U.S. Neptune. That Mars-Neptune square in the U.S. chart denotes its fantasy (not new) of ruling the world through military means.

Bush's Uranus and North Node conjoin the U.S. Mars, and his unique destiny ties right into this fantasy, or vision. This Moon phase itself makes a T-square with GW's progressed Sun, which is approaching a conjunction with his Mars. He is feeling the heat.

With seven out of ten of the major planets on the self-will side of this Washington DC chart, whatever happens now is apt to originate from the Administration. This is particularly indicated by the rising planets, Uranus, Moon, and Mars, in the first, or Aries, house. They are joined there by "General" Pallas Athena in the sign of Aries, trine Sun in the ninth, and both are in impulsive fire signs.

The Sabian Symbol for 9 Pisces is

"A JOCKEY SPURS HIS HORSE, INTENT ON OUTDISTANCING HIS RIVALS. Intense mobilization of energy and skill in the drive for success in any social performance affected by the competitive spirit. Since the stressing of individualism, especially in our American society which worships the material images of "success," the desire to win any kind of "race" engenders an often feverish release of energy controlled by technical skill and long practice. SELF-QUICKENING."
