Maya's January Travel Advisory

by Maya del Mar

In general, January is a slow month. Travel, too, is apt to be slow or delayed, particularly land travel. The generally strange week of January 20-26 will be strange for travel as well. January 11-12 are accident-prone days. Make sure your vehicle is in good repair, keep your eyes on the road, check weather predictions, and don’t push your limits.

January 1. Wait until after 12:23 p.m. EST to hit the road. Not only is moon VOC, but the morning’s Chiron-Mercury conjunction is a set-up for accidents.

January 2. There are two counter-indications to smooth travel today. One is that it’s dark-of-the-moon time. This is a sensitive, inner time, and pushing to go somewhere is simply against natural rhythms. The other is that Mercury, ruler of travel, stations to turn retrograde today. On several levels, this is a difficult position for easy traveling. I would not travel until after 3 p.m. today.

January 3, 4, and 5. These are excellent days for travel, especially for air travel.

January 6 and 7. Water travel is favored, although it might be a little choppy. On the road, there could be too much water. Late on the 7th there could be a small glitch, otherwise these days are OK.

January 8. Most of the day, from 6:55 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. EST, is VOC moon in Pisces. Could be foggy or in some way confusing. If you can, wait until after moon enters Aries at 4:15 p.m. From then on, travel is excellent through the 10th.

January 9 and 10. Excellent.

January 11. Daytime is OK. By late afternoon we reach that impulsive, rash period, and it’s best not to be on the road. Storms are possible.

January 12. Expectations and optimism may be unrealistic and pumped-up this morning. There may be hangovers from partying last night. Late morning could be fine, but afternoon is better.

January 13. Speed and abruptness characterize the morning. At 12:44 p.m., moon goes VOC. Best not to start a journey until after moon enters Gemini at 5:08 p.m. EST. We’ll move right along for the next couple of days.

January 14. This is a magical day for fleet movement.

January 15. Saturn and Pluto may slow us down a bit earlier in the day, but essentially travel should move well today.

January 16. Generally good conditions. However, tonight as Mars shifts from Scorpio to Sagittarius, it is a little unstable. If you’re on the road, make an effort to stay aware and centered.

January 17. Good. Coming Full Moon is drawing us on.

January 18. Full Moon goes VOC at 5:48 a.m. EST. Don’t start traveling until after Moon enters Leo at 9:29 a.m. After that, excellent.

January 19. Generally, excellent. Just take care that in the euphoria of over-optimism, you do not neglect to pay attention.

January 20. Today Mercury begins its week of conjoining Chiron. Anything can happen during this coming week. Today an urge to impulsive action to break through limits is strong. This is not conducive to safe travel.

January 21. It should be smooth sailing this morning. Afternoon is OK if interpersonal conflicts don’t keep our emotions tied up.

January 22. Not good. Most of the day is VOC moon, plus Mercury, the travel guide, is in an unstable state due to its changing direction. After Mercury turns direct, at 8:08 p.m. EST, energy moves forward nicely.

January 23. Excellent travel energy...although we’re still in this unpredictable week.

January 24. Morning is fine. Afternoon gets a little iffy. Moon goes VOC at 2:48 p.m. EST, and enters Scorpio at 7:09 p.m.

January 25. We are not very flexible now, and Scorpio quarter moon early this morning can be quite stressful. If you’re traveling, stay alert—and watch out for a chip on your—or someone else’s—shoulder. All emotional stress is an obstacle to happy traveling.

January 26. Morning is OK. However, tonight we have our final Mercury-Chiron conjunction, always unpredictable.

January 27. Moon is in Sagittarius, the travel sign, and all lights are green for go. However, there’s one sticker: Mars, the speedster, may be too fast today.

January 28. Intense relationship energy. Otherwise, travel should be fine.

January 29. Excellent.

January 30. Poor, for many reasons.

January 31. A perfect travel day, especially by air.
